It can be said that July 31, 2019, was effectively the end of one era at Alon Dental Care and what was sure to be the beginning of another amazing one, when the distinguished, Dr. Kevin Sandefer, took over as owner.

Dr. Sandefer has always had a desire to help others. A hard worker since his youth in South Texas, Dr. Sandefer was driven throughout high school, and because of his effort, he was able to attend Texas A&M University, where he obtained his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science.

It was here that his love for dentistry was sparked. Dr. Sandefer would ultimately follow this dream and attend the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Dentistry in San Antonio.

Once he graduated, Dr. Sandefer was determined to help his community improve their oral health, so he started his dental career in the South Texas region, providing valuable oral health care for the underserved. He was later promoted to Dental Director of the Community Health Center.

Around 5 years after his dental career began, Dr. Sandefer decided it was time to further his skills and returned to UT Health San Antonio, where he participated in an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency. This program gave him the knowledge and the skill to perform sedation dentistry, implantology, cosmetic dentistry, and so much more – all skills that he has effectively employed over the last 15 years of his career.

To ensure that you are getting the best in dental care, Dr. Sandefer became a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and the San Antonio District Dental Society, all organizations that take pride in recruiting only those committed to providing outstanding oral health care.

When he isn’t in the office, Dr. Sandefer leads an active life helping out at Texas Missions of Mercy, a non-profit dental service available for those in need. Dr. Sandefer also enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, hiking state parks, tending to his small herd of Simbrah cattle just south of San Antonio, or wading the shallows of the Gulf of Mexico looking for the perfect catch.
